Caregivers talk about the importance of aroha.

(Sherrilyn, Caregiver)

“The greatest rewards you see as a caregiver are the hugs and the kisses, the ‘I love yous,’ and thank you so much for loving me.”Ariel, Caregiver: “What do I really think children need in their lives? Someone that cares about them. Stability for them to be able to be who they are.”

(Denise, Caregiver)

“Love gives those children strength.”

(Coral, Caregiver)

“It’s really nice to see the first smile, to watch the children grow, and learn, and watch them do well.”

(Denise, Caregiver)

“The greatest reward you see as a caregiver is when you see the fear drain from their face and they get totally engaged in the activity they are doing. Or even they hold out their hand to hold your hand.”

(Ariel, Caregiver)

“All of us want to feel like we belong.”

(Sherrilyn, Caregiver)

“If we know that we are loved, we can do anything.”

(Denise, Caregiver)

“Provide the child with an opportunity to grow and flourish and they will give back. Five years, ten years, fifteen years down the track that child’s going to benefit. So thanks.”

(Ariel, Caregiver)
