Regulatory changes to improve search safety in our residences
Cabinet papers and other documents relating to changes in search powers in the Oranga Tamariki (Residential Care) Regulations 1996.
These changes to the Oranga Tamariki (Residential Care) Regulations 1996 support new search powers in the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989. The new powers:
- help keep items entering residences safe
- make sure searches of young people and non-residents are carried out safely.
The regulatory changes provide more detail about:
- search plans for children and young people in secure residences
- searches of everyone entering youth justice residences.
